Circle Singers Member Profile

Circle Singers presents its Member Profile. Here periodically we will present some inside "scoop" on the life and times of one of our members. We hope to accomplish two things: First, to give a more human picture of the chorus by showing some of the neat people who participate; Second, to improve personal awareness within the group since we come from such disparate areas of greater Cincinnati.

Judy Prues

Judy Prues, Soprano
October, 2017

Judy Prues has been a member of the Circle Singers since 2007. She was born in Cincinnati on a very cold December day. She attended St. Matthew Elementary School and Regina High School and then graduated from the School of Medical Technology. Judy worked briefly with a physician and then went to work at Jewish Hospital, holding several different posts there with current employment as a part time weekend switchboard operator.

Judy was widowed after a marriage of 47 years and has 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

As a youth, Judy sang with St. Matthew’s choir but her main musical training was playing the violin with the Regina High School Orchestra and with several musical productions. In addition to singing, Judy enjoys playing cards, her dinner groups, and attending concerts.

Her favorite music performed by the Circle Singers includes the medleys from the Broadway musicals, and especially South Pacific and Fiddler on the Roof.

What Judy likes the best about the Circle Singers are the friendships she has made and the enjoyment of the audiences and her most memorable experience with the chorus has been the performance at the National Convention of the American Legion held at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati in August 2016.

Currently, Judy simply enjoys spending time with her family and looks forward to the birth of an 8th great grandchild.
